Lex Erudites is delighted to announce the organization of the International Mediation Conclave in collaboration with the School of Law at Mahindra University and Grayspace Law and Policy Consulting. This prestigious event is set to take place in Hyderabad, India, from August 8th to 11th, 2024.

The Conclave will gather a diverse group of dispute-resolution professionals, judges, academicians, and students from around the globe. Designed in a hybrid format, the event will offer both in-person and online participation options. This unique Conclave aims to equip aspiring mediators with essential skills and knowledge to navigate conflicts and achieve amicable resolutions.

As the first event of its kind to focus exclusively on mediation, the Conclave promises a comprehensive program. Attendees can look forward to engaging workshops, an insightful conference, a student mediation competition, and an International Mediation Essay Competition.

Conclave Highlights:

Workshop (August 8, 2024): The workshop will provide a deep dive into the skills and techniques essential for effective mediation. Participants will engage in interactive sessions designed to enhance their understanding of mediation processes. Additionally, the workshop will offer insights into career opportunities in mediation, making it a valuable experience for those considering a future in this field.

Conference (August 9, 2024): The conference will feature panel discussions and interactive sessions focused on the practical aspects of mediation. Topics to be covered include:

  • Mediation Act of 2023: Will the ADR Movement Pick up in India?
  • Beyond Borders: International Mediation Practices and the Impact of the Singapore Convention on Mediation
  • The Rise of Commercial Mediation: Effectiveness and Suitability
  • Mediation in the Digital Age: Online Mediation Prospects and Challenges
  • The Big Question: Mediation as a Mainstream Choice for Resolving Conflicts

Experts and practitioners from various sectors will provide valuable insights into key mediation techniques and address industry-specific issues.

International Student Mediation Competition (August 10-11, 2024): This flagship event will offer law students from around the world an opportunity to demonstrate their mediation skills in a dynamic and challenging environment. The competition, held in a hybrid format with mandatory in-person participation for Indian teams, aims to foster talent, promote innovative mediation approaches, and encourage cross-cultural dialogue. The competition will consist of co-mediated sessions based on different scenarios, with each team comprising a mediator, client, and counsel. Winners will receive cash prizes totalling INR 100,000.

 International Mediation Essay Competition: Participants are invited to submit essays on mediation-related topics. Selected essays will be published in a book, and winners will be awarded cash prizes worth INR 100,000. Submission guidelines are available here.

Eligibility

The International Mediation Conclave:

  • Is open to all enthusiasts in the field of mediation.

The International Mediation Essay Competition:

  • accepts essays from all those who are interested in the field of mediation.

The International Student Mediation Competition:

  • Is open to all full time and part-time students of law.
  • Students who are perusing a post-Graduate degree, diploma or a certificate course are not eligible for the same.
  • Cross-Institute team shall not be eligible to participate in the competition.

*The International Student Mediation competition shall entertain:

  • Offline participation of Indian teams (Mandatory), and,

Prizes
